CD Lazy

Welp, I'm pretty disappointed in CD Baby, especially their support.

Usually I get pretty giddy about putting out another CD and even though the setting up a CD is my least favourite part, there's never any problems. Until this CD, I guess.

For something that's called Special Delivery, it's not going that way on both accounts.

The problem this time around is CD Baby, or I'll have to start referring to as CD Lazy.

Here's the hold up: For Digital Distribution you'll need your ISRC codes so you can get paid for online sales. The codes are assigned by CD Baby if you don't have them already. Using Nero, or probably any other CD burning software, you can attach the codes to the songs on the Master. The reason I haven't sent my master to get duplicated yet? No codes. After 3 e-mails, I haven't even received a "we got your e-mail" or an ass-kiss "We're sorry" e-mail yet. WTF?

So what happens last night? I decided to get my own codes for myself. I had to go to a Canadian ISRC site and that's OK. It ended up being free too. Nice. While making the master to send away, guess who decides to issue me ISRC codes? Yeah, CD Lazy. Still didn't get an e-mail about it; I just happened to check it on a whim.

Over the last couple of years, going through CD Baby has been less than fun. At least last time I Blogged about poor service when I was setting up Blind Date, one of their guys posted a comment saying how sorry he was. That was cool and all, and that problem got solved pretty quick but that's OK for the first time. Not that I should be treated better than anyone else, but I've been a pretty consistent return customer for over 8 years. You'd think...ah, never mind.

I'll have to start looking around. I'm sure there's other companies that are doing the same thing, who are a bit more competent and would love the extra business. Call me old fashioned but I don't think people should have to get frustrated doing their hobbies.
I'm thinking I should Blog less. Really, I'm not this cranky of a person in real life.
